LUMHS releases merit list for 10 private medical & dental colleges in Sindh

KARACHI: Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) has officially released the merit list for MBBS admissions 2025 for 10 private medical and dental colleges in Sindh. The move aims to ensure transparency in the admission process and protect Sindh-based students from unfair practices, including excessive fee demands and merit violations.

The merit list covers admissions for 1,100 MBBS seats across 10 private medical and dental colleges, including:

  • Ziauddin Medical College
  • Tibri Medical College
  • Indus Medical College, Tando Jam
  • Jinnah Medical and Dental College
  • Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, Karachi
  • Mohammad Medical and Dental College, Mirpurkhas
  • Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for Girls, Karachi
  • United Medical and Dental College, Karachi

It is important to note that Aga Khan University’s Medical College is not included in this merit list.

According to sources, some private medical colleges in Sindh have been violating merit-based admissions and demanding excessive fees from students over the past four years. The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced stricter regulations to ensure admission transparency and prevent financial exploitation of students.

Previously, in an effort to regulate private medical college admissions, Jinnah Sindh Medical University had released a similar merit-based list for private institutions in Sindh.

LUMHS has instructed all selected candidates to submit their admission fees to their respective colleges by February 6, 2025. Failure to comply with the deadline will result in the cancellation of admission, as per PMDC regulations.

Additionally, LUMHS has clarified that only candidates who submit their fees on time will be eligible for potential upgrades to their higher-priority colleges in subsequent merit lists. The enrolling university will be responsible for confirming fee submissions and validating upgraded admissions.

With the release of this merit list, LUMHS aims to standardize the medical and dental admissions process in Sindh, ensuring that only deserving candidates secure seats based on merit. As Pakistan’s healthcare education sector grows, such measures play a crucial role in maintaining academic integrity and transparency.

For further details, candidates are advised to visit the official LUMHS website and follow updates regarding the next merit lists and admission process.
