ISLAMABAD: Yousaf Raza Gillani, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Pakistan, had resigned from his position.
He quit because his absence resulted in the passing of the State Bank (Amendment) Bill 2021 in the Upper House of the Parliament.
"I have tendered my resignation to my party; I no longer wish to remain the Opposition leader," Gillani stated during a Senate floor speech.
He asserted that twelve members were missing throughout the session, including eight members of the Opposition, two members of the administration, and two members of independent candidate Dilawar Khan's faction.
"This was an important topic of discussion; we should have been given additional time to consider it. The house is supposed to be trusted with such vital concerns of national importance, but regrettably, this was not the scenario," He remarked.
