Dengue Programme Employees’ Deprived Salaries

KARACHI- The staff of Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD), Sindh, has not been paid salaries since last four months, causing hardship for employees and their families.


Sources at PCPD told that technical and field staff of dengue control programmes has been deprived salaries since four months. Around 57 employees of Dengue Control Programme from grade-2 to grade-17 have not been paid salaries since joining of duties.


The social mobilisers, field workers, entomologist, drivers and other staff have been deprived since October 2017. The employees were facing financial crises as they are unable to feed their dependents, pay for the education of their children and pay house rents.


Programme Manager, Prevention and Control Program of Dengue Sindh, Dr Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, said a summery was already sent to Sindh health department for release of budget for payment of salaries to technical and field staff.


He informed that salaries have been delayed due to verification process of newly recruited staff and hoped employees get pending salaries cheques soon.
