KARACHI: Experts from across the globe discussed developments in osteoporosis prevention and treatment at the International Osteoporosis and Bone Health Summit recently organised by the Vitamin D Academy and the Fragility Fracture Network-Pakistan (FFN-Pak), with support from PharmEvo.
Speaking at the summit, Prof. Kassim Javaid from the University of Oxford, presented developments in orthogeriatric care for fragility fractures, while Dr. Aysha Habib Khan underscored the importance of using the FRAX tool for fracture risk assessment in Pakistan.
Other prominent speakers, such as Dr. Shahid Noor and Prof. Michael F. Holick, highlighted the impact of lifestyle changes and the essential roles of vitamins D and K2 in bone health.
In addition, Dr. Hafsa Majid of FFN-Pak led a session on guidelines for Vitamin D supplementation, focusing on safe dosing to prevent toxicity and promote community health initiatives.
Prof. Masood Umer concluded the summit with an outline of FFN-Pak's commitment to advancing care for fragility fractures across Pakistan.
The event would help promote collaboration among global experts to boost osteoporosis awareness and improve bone health management strategies worldwide.
