Dengue cases surge in Punjab, 168 new infections reported

LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department reported 168 new dengue cases across the province on Wednesday.
Rawalpindi is the hardest-hit area, with 162 cases, while Chakwal recorded two cases. Lahore, Attock, Sargodha, and Mandi Bahauddin each reported one new case.
In the past week, Punjab has identified 917 new cases, bringing the total for 2024 to 5,445. In response, the Health Department reassured the public that all necessary resources, including adequate supplies of medicine, are available in public hospitals.
For inquiries, treatment information, or to report dengue-related concerns, the Health Department has established a free helpline at 1033. Officials emphasize the importance of heightened vigilance and preventive measures to address the rising trend of dengue cases in the province.
