AlKhidmat holds free medical camp for Malir Jail inmates

KARACHI: A free medical camp was recently organized at Malir Jail by Alkhidmat Karachi, providing essential skin disease treatments and raising awareness among thousands of prisoners.
The initiative featured comprehensive medical check-ups by a team of expert doctors and paramedical staff, who also distributed prescribed medications among the inmates free of charge. Alongside treatment, inmates were educated on the importance of skin health and preventive measures to address common ailments.
Key figures present at the event included Alkhidmat Karachi’s Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Director of Community Services Qazi Syed Sadruddin, and SSP Malir Jail Syed Arshad Ali Shah. Senior representatives from Alkhidmat monitored the camp's operations to ensure its success.
During the visit, Mr Qureshi praised the jail administration’s cooperation and highlighted the significance of tackling skin-related health issues, which, if left untreated, could escalate into severe complications.
He also announced plans for another medical camp within 15 days to continue addressing the healthcare needs of inmates.
SSP Malir Jail Syed Arshad Ali Shah commended Alkhidmat’s efforts, acknowledging the camp’s impact on prisoner welfare and expressing gratitude for the organisation’s continued support in improving health conditions within correctional facilities.
The camp aligns with Alkhidmat’s mission to serve vulnerable populations and bridge critical healthcare gaps, particularly among marginalised communities in prisons and beyond.
