Sindh Healthcare Commission seals 51 quacks clinics

KARACHI: The Directorate of Anti-Quackery Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) visited 139 clinics last week and sealed 51 quacks clinics.
The anti-quackery teamed visited 139 healthcare establishments (HCEs) in Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benaizrabad, and Hyderabad and closed 51 clinics run by quacks. A total of 3,973 quack clinics have been sealed across the Sindh province so far, while warnings have been issued to 2201 HCESs for non-compliance to date. In this week, 15 warnings have been issued. The team has visited a total of 7990 HCEs in Sindh to date.
The Sindh Healthcare Commission organized training sessions for primary healthcare and independent consultant clinics in Karachi. The participants were trained by Deputy Director Trainings, Dr Zainab Hassan, on the Sindh service delivery standards for primary healthcare and clinics. Fifty-two healthcare facilities attended the training session.
The Director of Clinical Governance & Training, Dr Ahmed Raza Kazmi, spoke to the participants about the mandate and functions of the SHCC that is to improve healthcare delivery services in the province and to eradicate quackery. At the end of the session, certificates were distributed to participating health care establishments.
The Directorate of Complaints has received a total of 152 complaints to date, out of which 112 complaints have been disposed of, 32 complaints are under processing, while 8 are sub-judice.
Similarly, the Directorate of Licensing & Accreditation, SHCC, received 34 new registration applications this week. The total number of applications for registration has reached 11,397. Certificates were issued to 30 HCEs this week, bringing the total number of registration certificates issued to 10,022 HCEs.
