Islamabad - The Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) has overlooked the quality and standards of the education system, as its Quality Assurance Department (QAD) has been handed over to an official who previously faced 3 interdepartmental inquires for negligence and misconduct at HEC.
This post requires expertise and a good level of understanding, to greatly assess the quality of higher education in various institutions and to bring them at a level of compatibility with international educational standards. So far, QAD is struggling to attain that level of excellence.
Ex-Chairman HEC Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, stated that HEC’s QA section needs to be upgraded, as in recent years, rankings of the Pakistani universities haven’t improved as such. He added that, QA is a specialized field for which the officials are trained to maintain the quality in the associated universities. He stressed upon the fact, that no unsuitable candidate will be allowed to take over this technical position, and higher educational standards cannot be compromised, under any circumstances.
