KARACHI – Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said here that the provincial health department in collaboration with USAID was striving hard to enhance healthcare facilities in the public sector hospitals across the province and a number of health-related projects were already being run with the logistic and technical support of the USAID.
This was stated by the minister during his recent meeting with the US Consul General Brian Heath held here in his office.
According to an official hand, the US Consul General while discussing the Thar issues with the minister expressed his satisfaction over measures taken by the health department in the affected desert area and assured his country’s cooperation in further improving the situation.
Mr Heath told the minister that during his recent visit to the Mithi’s Civil Hospital Mithi, he found the hospital was functioning properly.
Earlier, the minister informed the US Consul General that although a number of provincial subjects have been devolved to the provinces in the wake of 18th Amendment to the Constitution, funds have not yet been released to the Sindh government, causing delay in completing certain health-related projects.
The minister also told the US diplomat that the recently set up Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences will not only cater to the needs of patients of the interior Sindh but also Balochistan.
