KARACHI- Dr. Ruth Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) has temporarily shut down their Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and other equipment, following the fault in the hospital’s air-conditioner plant.
The administration has been unable to maintain temperature in the Radiology Department owing to technical faults in their AC plant, due to which, all costly equipment have been shut down to avoid further damage.
The patients with psychological issues, neurological diseases and bone related problems were referred to private laboratories.
Dozens of visiting and admitted patients with complaints of problems in brain, spinal cord, and bones were being tested for MRI every day, free of charge; but, due to sudden faults in the machines, majority of patients have been compelled to pay heavy fees for tests carried out by private hospitals in Karachi.
Addition Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr. Arif Niaz, was not available for comments over this matter.
