Sindh Health Department to increase Doctors' Allowance

KARACHI- In light of the province wide protest demonstrations led by Sindh's doctors, Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho mentioned that the Department has decided to increase professional allowances for the health staff.

Sindh Health Department is paying Health Professional Allowance to Medical Officers, consisting of general cadre and Dentists of BS-17, Rs15,000/- per month, Medical Doctors in BS-18, 19 and 20, Rs 10,000/- per month. Pharmacists are on one running basic pay, employees working at JPMC and NICH on half basic pay and supporting staff on 20% of the running basic pay.

Moreover, Sindh Health Department is also paying Hard Area Allowance to the Doctors and Paramedics serving in District Tharparkar, where a Specialist is to be given 140,000/-, Medical Officers 90,000, whereas the Paramedics are to get 10,000/- per month.

Furthermore, Dr Azra Fazal requested all the protesting doctors to end their strike, as their demand regarding an increase in their salaries has been fulfilled.
