ISLAMABAD: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a health advisory for Hajj 2025, imposing stringent health requirements on prospective pilgrims in anticipation of extreme weather conditions.
The ministry has particularly barred individuals with severe medical conditions from participating in the pilgrimage.
According to Muhammad Umar Butt, spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, those suffering from serious kidney, heart, lung, or liver diseases, as well as cancer, will be prohibited from performing Hajj.
Individuals diagnosed with dementia or contagious diseases, including tuberculosis and whooping cough, will also be excluded, he added.
Moreover, children under 12 years of age and pregnant women will not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage, say the advisory, also mandating that all pilgrims be vaccinated against meningitis, Covid-19, seasonal influenza, and polio as part of the health protocols established by Saudi authorities.
Umar said that only those in good health and physically capable of enduring the rigors of the pilgrimage will be allowed to embark on this sacred journey.
