KARACHI - A special team of Sindh health department on the directives of Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar conducted surprise inspection of Civil Hospital Hyderabad (CHH) and Latifabad’s Bhittai Hospital.

The CHH’s medical superintendent Wajid Memon informed the inspection team that an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs130 million to facilitate patients.

The members of the team, who visited different departments of the hospital, including its emergency, cardiac, orthopaedic, medical and some other wards, said the overall condition of the hospital was satisfactory.

They, however, voiced concern over shortage of medical staff and encroachments existing in the vicinity of the hospital.
Bhittai Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Muhammad Aslam Shaikh told the team that upgradation of the hospital’s casualty block has been completed at a cost of Rs22.5m.

He also informed the team that attendance of staff was being monitored regularly.
