KARACHI: An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, the Chief Secretary (CS) of Sindh, at the Sindh Secretariat.
Among those who attended the meeting were Qazi Shahid Pervez, the Additional Chief Secretary, Kazim Jatoi, the Secretary of Health, Muhammad Hanif Channa, the Secretary of General Administration, Khalid Haider Shah, the Secretary of College Education, Abdul Haleem Sheikh, the Secretary of Food, and various Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners (DC).
During the meeting, the Health and Food Department officials briefed the meeting about the vaccination campaign in the province, the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus in educational institutions and the price of flour.
Referring to the vaccination campaign, the Health Secretary said that so far, 1,37,59,000 people in the province had been administered a single dose of vaccination. He informed the meeting that 8.2 million people so far have been fully vaccinated in the province. School education department officials informed that so far, 132,000 students have been vaccinated in Sindh schools.
Mr Khalid said that 65,000 college students have also been vaccinated in Sindh, and new admissions will receive the same. At the meeting, all the Deputy Commissioners said that the Education Department should ensure students' attendance in schools so that they can be vaccinated.
In the meeting, the CS said that vaccination should be compulsory for private educational institutions. He directed all Deputy Commissioners to achieve their vaccination targets and pointed out that a door to door campaign should be started.
“The vaccination target should be met at any cost.” He concluded.
