KARACHI: The death toll from the ongoing heatwave in Karachi has risen to 26.
According to the Sindh Health Department, 9 deaths attributed to heatstroke occurred in Karachi within the past 24 hours. Among these, 3 fatalities were reported at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
Earlier, the city had recorded 7 deaths due to heatstroke.
Meanwhile, K-Electric continues to impose both announced and unannounced load shedding across Karachi despite the severe heatwave.
Areas such as Defence, Gulshan e Iqbal, Gulbarg, Malir, Maripur, Memongoth, North Karachi, Orangi Town, and Nazimabad are experiencing electricity outages lasting 12 to 14 hours despite the soaring temperatures in the city.
