UAE Extends Support to Pak Health, Education Sectors

LAHORE: UAE is committed to provide full support to Pakistan, especially in education and healthcare as these sectors are important for the future generation of the country.


This was said by United Arab Emirates Ambassador Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi during his visit to Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore. Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC) Chairperson Prof Farid Ahmad Khan warmly welcomed the UAE envoy on his arrival.


The UAE ambassador visited the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Liver Transplant Unit and other wards of the hospital. He gave bouquet to the patients admitted in different wards and prayed for their early recovery.


On the occasion, Prof Farid Ahmad briefed Al-Zaabi about the history and other components of Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex and extension projects.


He said, “We are proud of our long-term relationship with the United Arab Emirates.”


He added, “UAE always facilitated us in different fields, especially in the establishment of Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex.”


The UAE ambassador praised the efforts of SZMC chairperson and his team regarding their endless efforts in providing state-of-the-art treatment facilities to the patients admitted in Shaikh Zayed Hospital.


He said UAE will enhance mutual coordination and will support upcoming projects which will play a vital role in bringing reforms in health sector.


Meanwhile, the UAE ambassador also expressed interest in replicating Punjab Safe City Authority in their cities.


In this regard, Al-Zaabi visited Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) in Qurban Lines.


Spokesperson PSCA Haroon Yousif said that purpose of the visit was to probe possibilities of joint-ventures between of PSCA and UAE government vis-a-vis establishment of similar safe cities projects in cosmopolitan cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.


Haroon added that both parties also discussed possibilities to sign an agreement with UAE government for its safe cities project. He said that the delegation expressed appreciation for authority’s performance, purpose and concerted administrative and political mechanism behind the project.


He also expressed best wishes from the people and the Government of UAE and announced full support for such security projects encompassing latest technologies and crafts coupled with a competent workforce.


At the end of the meeting, the guests were presented souvenir shields by the management of PSCA as a token of gratitude.
