JPMC surgeons remove iron rod from youngster's head

KARACHI: A team of surgeons of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) removed an iron rod from the head of the youngster during surgery.

The young labourer was working in a building in Landhi when suddenly an iron rod fell on him, which penetrated his head and came out of his forehead near the eye. He was immediately shifted to the Accident & Emergency Department, JPMC.

He was treated at the Accident & Emergency Department, JPMC and later shifted to the Neurosurgery Operation Theater, where surgeons successfully removed the iron rod.

Dr Muhammad Salman, Deputy Director, JPMC, stated that the injured youngster was brought to the hospital, where he was shifted to the Neurosurgery Operation Theater after receiving medical treatment at the Accident & Emergency Department.

He further added that the condition of the patient was gradually improving after the removal of the rod. However, there was an issue with the vision of the patient, for which ophthalmologists have been called in to examine him for further treatment.
