Karachi: Director Health Karachi, Dr Zafar Ejaz said that physical verification of health practitioners has been initiated across the city to identify ghost employees and to promote better utilization of the resources.
Dr Zafar Ejaz said that approximately 1300 doctors from Grade-17 to 19 are working in all the Union Councils of Karachi. He said physical verification of doctors had started in the year 2010 but could not be completed; it has been initiated once again to identify ghost employees.
“Under this procedure, doctors would be selected for the posts of UC Medical Officer, and they would be assigned to increase routine immunization. They will also be responsible for creating awareness in public to prevent different diseases, and taking the precautionary measures in this regard”, he explained.
Dr Zafar Ejaz said that this process will also help in identifying the medical centers where extra medical officers are working unnecessarily, and they would be reappointed or shifted to other centers with vacant positions. It will also help in the better utilization of resources, he added.
