KARACHI: Amid a surge in mercury, 45 to 50 patients suffering from gastroenteritis are being admitted daily to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), the hospital administration says.
As temperatures rise in Karachi, other hospitals are also witnessing an increase in gastroenteritis cases.
Health experts warn that dehydration and electrolyte imbalances caused by gastroenteritis can lead to severe complications, including kidney failure.
They advise the public to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly, maintain good hand hygiene, avoid consuming substandard and fried foods, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to prevent illness in the ongoing hot spell in the city.
