MSPH Thesis Defense Seminar held at JSMU

KARACHI: Dr Saima Arif, A scholar of Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), successfully defended her thesis at the 25th thesis defence research seminar led by APPNA Institute of Public Health, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) and the Research Department at the VC Boardroom.

Dr Saima completed her research work under the supervision of Chairperson APPNA Institute of Public Health Professor Lubna Ansari Baig on the subject ‘Prevalence of Anxiety and Depression in high school students of Karachi.’

The thesis defence seminar was assessed by the committee members, including two external examiners, Prof Syed Muhammad Mubeen, Vice Principal Hamdard College of Medicine and Dentistry, Prof Saira Afzal, Chairperson and Head of Community Medicine, King Edward Medical University, Lahore, and one internal examiner, Dr Tafazzul Haider Zaidi, Department of Community Medicine, JSMU.

Prof Yawar Ali Abidi, Dean Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences, JSMU,  served as the neutral chair.

Associate Prof and Incharge Research Department Dr Shiraz Shaikh moderated the thesis defence, while Dr Zaeema Ahmer supervised the seminar.

Prof Shahid Rasul, Acting Vice-Chancellor, JSMU, commended the MSPH graduate for her efforts and congratulated her on successfully defending her thesis.

Towards the end of the presentation, Dr Saima thanked  Prof Lubna Ansari Baig, Chairperson AIPH-JSMU, for her supervision and assistance.

Access to the lecture was available to everybody across the globe. Faculty members at JSMU were sent a link to the presentation through email.
