‘Weekend workouts significantly reduce dementia risk’

A recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine reveals that engaging in physical activity just once or twice a week can substantially lower the risk of mild cognitive impairment, a precursor to dementia. This "weekend warrior" exercise pattern offers cognitive health benefits comparable to more frequent workout routines.
Researchers analyzed data from over 10,000 participants and found that those who engaged in physical activity once or twice weekly reduced their risk of mild cognitive impairment by an average of 15%. The study suggests that exercise enhances brain function by promoting brain-derived neurotrophic factors, increasing brain plasticity, and enlarging brain volume.
These findings indicate that even individuals with busy schedules can achieve significant cognitive health benefits through limited but regular exercise sessions. Incorporating physical activity into one's routine, even if confined to weekends, may be a viable strategy to mitigate the risk of cognitive decline.
