LAHORE: The 17th death anniversary of Prof. Dr Muhammad Hayat Zafar, the former President, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, and the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, University of Health Sciences, who is also the father of Prof. Dr Sardar Mohammad Al-freed Zafar, Principal, Postgraduate Medical Institute, was observed in Lahore and in his hometown of Sultan Mahmood, Tehsil Kabirwala where special prayers for forgiveness was offered, and Qur'an recitation was arranged for him. 

Prof. Muhammad Hayat Zafar served as President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Chairman of the Board of Management, and Principal of Nishtar Medical College until departure. He was one of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's closest and most trusted allies. He also made a significant contribution to the Pakistan movement. The Punjab government also nominated him as Chairman, Service Committee Multan, in honour of his great deeds. He did a great job fulfilling his tasks.

Multan's Kabirwala Road, Nishtar Medical College's auditorium, and PMDC's hall are all named after him.
