Expired Blood Surfaces- SBTA Raids Blood Bank.

KARACHI- Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA’s) team conducted a raid in a private hospital of Korangi, seizing their blood bank due to presence of expired blood bags.

Secretary, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA), Dr. Zahid Ansari, stated that SBTA’s team found ten expired blood bags during an incursion at Chiniot General Hospital, Korangi.

The blood bank was being run by the hospital administration. He further informed that the hospital’s pathologist and other related staff fled upon seeing SBTA’s team. The blood bags were confiscated and blood samples were sent for analysis.

Dr. Ansari further added that a crackdown against illegal blood banks will be continuing across the province of Sindh. Monitoring teams will regularly visit the blood banks to ensure provision of safe blood, for people in need.
