KARACHI: On World Children’s Day, the Dow Students’ Global Scholar Community (DSGSC) from Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), in collaboration with the Directorate of Global Engagement, made an inspiring visit to Aghosh Orphanage, operated by Al-Khidmat Foundation Karachi. This heartfelt initiative aimed to bring health, happiness, and hope to some of the city's most vulnerable children.
The event revolved around fostering well-being and empowering young minds, aligning with three key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
The children engaged in creative activities like painting and received vital education on hygiene and health practices. A free medical camp provided essential care to over 100 children, ensuring their physical well-being was prioritized. Goodie bags filled with snacks and stationery brought smiles and a sense of belonging, leaving lasting memories.
This collaborative initiative showcased the dedication of DUHS, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and all contributors to nurturing a brighter future for orphaned and vulnerable children. Beyond the immediate care provided, the event aimed to instill hope, promote education, and enhance well-being for the young participants.
The partnership highlights the power of community-driven efforts in transforming lives and fulfilling global commitments. By providing health, education, and emotional support, such initiatives serve as a beacon of possibility for countless children who deserve a brighter tomorrow.
