KARACHI: On two different occasions, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) inspected Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and uncovered 30 kg of ice drug "absorbed" in towels, ladies' clothing, and even prayer mats.

Investigators claimed that the towels had been booked by a courier firm and were meant to be sent to Australia, but when they were searched on suspicion, 20 kilogrammes of ice was discovered.

The process involved dissolving the medicine in water, soaking the towels in it, and then drying them to remove any traces of it.

During a separate operation, seven kilogrammes of ice were also discovered in prayer mats.

Arshad Ali, a Lahore resident, had arranged for the package to be shipped to Australia.

Three kilos of ice were seized in a third operation from a package containing drug-soaked women's clothing bound for Sri Lanka via a courier service office in Karachi.

Shagufta Bano, a Sheikhupura resident, ordered the package. Smuggling was thwarted after officials raided the courier company's premises.

ANF has confiscated all of the narcotics and is conducting an investigation, according to a spokesperson.
