KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) appreciated the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services for his bold reaction to the interference of the Federal Minister of National Health Services on his manipulation of electing his close friend as the President of the PMDC and favoring of a group of doctors.

The PMA had already rejected the PMDC ordinance-2019 under which this selected council had been formed, which was in total violation of the PMDC ordinance-1962.

The PMA has always stressed upon making the PMDC an autonomous, independent, and vibrant body to look after the related issues democratically and transparently. Through this ordinance, there would be no change in the affairs of the PMDC, and it would remain a continuation of the mess which it had been since decades.

The PMA requested the members of the Senate and National Assembly to come forward and support the PMA by raising their voice against this illegal, unconstitutional, and destructive ordinance. They asked everyone to collectively make an effort to stop and reject the PMDC ordinance-2019 in both houses of the Parliament.

The PMA further requested the Chairman and all the members of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services to reject the PMDC ordinance-2019 and work for its dissolution. The PMA wants to organize immediate elections as per the constitution of the PMDC, and the elected body should manage the affairs of the PMDC as per the rules & regulations of the organization.
