KARACHI - Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s (JPMC) administration in its ongoing drive against power-theft through kunda connections has, so far, removed dozens of illegal connections.
According to sources, a number of commercial concerns such as petrol pumps, dry cleaning shops as well as some residents of nearby Bizzerta Line had unlawfully taken connections from JPMC’s electricity network through kunda connections reportedly in connivance with some officials.
The campaign which is aimed at bringing an end to the menace of power-theft will, on the one hand, improve the JPMC’s electricity system and, on the other, will save millions of rupees currently being wasted on account of power-theft, the sources said, adding that the drive will continue till all illegal connections are removed.
Moreover, JMPC’s executive director has written a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for conducting an inquiry against all those who had taken illegal connections from the hospital’s electricity network.
JPMC’s deputy director (Admin) and focal person, Dr Jawaid Jamali, confirmed that the hospital’s management had sought the law-enforcement agency’s help for making its drive against kunda connections a success.
