KARACHI: Shahid Afridi tested positive for COVID-19 before the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League.
Azam Khan, Manager, Quetta Gladiators, stated that Shahid Afridi would undergo quarantine at his residence in accordance with PCB standards and will be reintegrated into the team following a seven-day quarantine and negative test.
According to team management, Afridi visited a hospital yesterday where he stayed several hours.
As per the administration, Afridi exhibited no manifestations of the condition.
A day earlier, Afridi had asked for a one-day release from the franchise management prior to the start of the PSL for medical and personal reasons. Afridi informed the management that he was experiencing back discomfort and that his sister-in-law had died.
