ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's active COVID-19 case count surpassed 90,000 on Thursday morning, as thousands continue to get the virus leading to the prevalence of the Omicron variant.

Nonetheless, despite a minor reduction in daily numbers over the last three days, the coronavirus positivity rate remains above 10 per cent for the eighth consecutive day, according to NCOC data.

According to the NCOC's figures, 7,539 new infections were found overnight following 63,272 diagnostic tests completed around the country, putting the country's positivity rate at 11.91 per cent.

The total number of cases has increased to 1.393 million due to the identification of additional cases, while the active case count is 91,854.

According to NCOC figures, overall immunisations in Pakistan exceeded 170 million.
