PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the expansion of the Sehat Card health facility to overseas Pakistani laborers. This decision, taken on the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, aims to provide essential healthcare coverage to workers residing abroad.
According to an official communique, the KP government has sought data from the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) to identify eligible laborers from the province. Expatriate laborers, who contribute billions in remittances, often miss out on government healthcare programs due to their residence abroad. This initiative ensures that their healthcare needs are addressed.
How the Facility Works
Under the new Sehat Card expansion, Pakistani workers living abroad on labor visas can:
✅ Receive medical treatment in their country of residence.
✅ Submit medical reports to the KP Health Department for verification.
✅ Get medical expenses reimbursed to their families in Pakistan after approval.
This initiative is specifically designed for the labor class, ensuring that those who contribute to Pakistan’s economy are not left without essential healthcare support.
A Major Step for Expat Worker Welfare
"Overseas Pakistani laborers are among the most deserving of healthcare support, yet they often miss out due to their residence abroad," stated the official KP government communique.
By extending the Sehat Card to overseas workers, the KP government has taken a historic step in recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of Pakistan’s expatriate workforce. The move is expected to benefit thousands of Pakistani laborers in the Middle East, and other regions, providing peace of mind to both them and their families.
