PRCS trained thousands of youth to deal with emergencies: Shoaib Siddiqui

KARACHI -A three days 7th Annual Youth and Volunteer Training Camp convened by the Sindh chapter of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) titled "Youth Global, Active"  concluded  recently.

More than 200 students from 20 schools of Karachi and more than 150 Red Crescent volunteers attended the camp. The objective was to boost the community volunteerism on successful infusion of spirit of selfless service to needy people without discrimination of class, colour or creed through youth and volunteers affiliated to PRCS programs.

Chief Guest - Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddqui while admiring the Red Crescent on the occasion said that; PRCS is working rigorously for the betterment of our youth. He said that PRCS-Sindh is organizing various trainings especially for youth and creating awareness to deal with any emergency like floods, earthquake, fire or terrorist attacks. Through these training sessions, our youth are not only prepared to save their lives, but also save others’ lives as well. “I appreciate the efforts of Pakistan Red Crescent Society and its volunteers who are always ready to serve the needy people and I also offer my full cooperation to them for betterment of our society” said Commissioner Karachi.

PRCS Sindh Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem said the youth camp aims at mobilizing a large number of youth volunteers, coordinating activities of youth organizations, to promote good volunteer management practices, and to advocate value of volunteerism in Pakistan. He said PRCS focuses on successful infusion of spirit of selfless service to needy people, without discrimination of class, colour and creed through youth volunteers affiliated to its programs and activities. Today, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Sindh chapter is proud to have more than 6000 volunteers attached to its programs in various capacities.

At the end of the ceremony, the volunteers, company commanders and camp management officers were awarded certificates and medals for rendering commendable services in the camp. The closing ceremony was attended by PRCS Sindh branch managing Committee members Sheikh Jala & Dr. Majid Alvi, other staff and a big number of people from all walks of life. A special prayer services was also held by participants who expressed their solidarity with the parents of the children martyred by terrorists in Peshawar.
