5th Renal Transplantation Course Ends at SIUT

KARACHI- A three- day postgraduate course based on Renal Transplantation Urology and Nephrology concluded at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). This course was the 5th of its kind, and was organized by SIUT, in collaboration with Westmead Hospital, Sydney.

Prof Jeremy Chapman, a Renal Physician from Australia, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Transplantation Journal discussed various topics including assessing the donor and recipient for transplantation, long term management of renal transplantation, improving dialysis therapy in developing countries.

He also highlighted the important features of dialysis, renal transplantation and its long term outcome.

Prof Chapman, the Director of Renal Medicine at Westmead Hospital of Sydney and former President of International Transplantation Society stressed that there is a greater need of organ donation for transplantation of renal failure patients, and also for those who have no matchable donors in their family.

Director SIUT Prof Adib Rizvi welcomed all the guest speakers at the session. Others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Jan Swinnen, Donna Oomens, Deborah Kannage, all from Sydney, whereas, Dr. Ejaz Ahmed, Dr. Bux Ali, Dr. Tahir Aziz from SIUT and others participated in the discussion.
