KARACHI - Sindh health department in collaboration with Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a spray campaign against dengue virus across the city.
This was stated by Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar while presiding over a meeting at his office. Dengue Prevention and Control Programme’s In-charge Dr Masood Solangi and other senior officials of health and KMC were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was told that of most of the total 850 cases of dengue reported, so far, in Sindh, were detected in Karachi, while remaining 29 cases were reported from other parts of the province. Besides, three patients of the disease had died in Karachi.
Jam Mehtab said that all deputy commissioners of the province have been directed to cooperate with the health department’s teams engaged for carrying out spray against dengue virus.
He also said that isolation wards in Civil Hospital Karachi, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Lyari Hospital were being improved.
He also urged the officials to launch an awareness campaign about dengue virus among people by distributing leaflets at educational institutions and mosques.
