KARACHI- Much awaited, construction work of the expended section of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) is almost completed and likely to open its doors for the public, by June ‘2018.
Medical Superintendent, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Anwer, stated that the construction work of this five-story building started about five years ago, under Annual Development Program (ADP) of Government of Sindh. The project was supposed to complete by mid of 2014 but construction work got delayed due to some issues. He informed that Sindh Government has assigned Dr. Asif Zaman, Medical Superintendent of Sindh Government New Karachi Hospital, as Chairman of the Tender Committee, to purchase equipment for ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, OT complex and Pediatric Emergency.
No representative of ASH has been included in Tender Committee, in charge of purchasing equipment for the new building’s wards.
Dr. Anwer further mentioned that, the five-story building comprises of ENT & Eye OPDs (ground floor,) Ophthalmology Ward (1st floor), ENT Ward (2nd floor), Maxillofacial Surgery Ward (3rd Floor), OT Complex (4th floor) and Pediatric Emergency Department will be established in the basement of the new building.
