ISLAMABAD: The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) has been barred by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) from announcing the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the IHC delivered the three-page order, instructing SZABMU to withhold the MDCAT results.
Notices have been issued to the Federal Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities, with a hearing scheduled for September 26.
The court said that the additional attorney general must urgently inform SZABMU of the stay order, as the results were yet to be declared.
The petitioners, students who sat for the MDCAT exam, argued that the papers in other provinces were much easier, resulting in many students scoring above 190 marks. They contended that their exam was out of syllabus, severely impacting their performance.
One student said that more than 20 questions in their paper were beyond the prescribed syllabus. Upon reviewing the exam at home, they found that several answers they had marked correctly were inaccurately evaluated in the official key.
Parents of the affected students raised concerns with SZABMU officials, but they alleged that the vice chancellor exited the venue through the back door, and the police were called in. The registrar reportedly did not take the issue seriously, they added.
The students are now calling for the MDCAT exam to be re-conducted.
