Government urged to help research programs on Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer

KARACHI: The Three-Day IPVS Satellite Symposium on "Human Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer" strongly advised that the relevant authorities prioritise constructing a national system for tracking cancer patient statistics.

The international summit also proposed that research organisations such as the Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) at the University of Karachi do studies on HPV and cervical cancer with enough government funding.

The IPVS Satellite Symposium was held by the Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, which scientists from 64 nations attended.

Germany, Belgium, the United States, the United Kingdom, Iran, Sweden, Indonesia, China, Cameron, Greece, Jordan, Nepal, Kazakhstan, and Sudan were among the participating nations.

At the symposium's closing ceremony, held in the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences and COMSTECH Coordinator General, stated that the National Institute of Virology at the Dr Panjwani Center, University of Karachi, was researching a variety of viral diseases. He noted that three-fourths of illness burdens are attributable to viral diseases.

He stated that the primary goal of the IPVS satellite symposium was to increase scientific knowledge for the benefit of the entire community for the prevention of Human Papilloma Virus-related infections and cancers, particularly cervical cancer, and to bring together both young and experienced scientists from all over the world to find solutions to all of these problems. He stated that there is no question that well-coordinated science, policymaking, and entrepreneurship represent the most significant promise.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr Thomas Iftner, Director of the University Clinic in Tuebingen (UKT), Germany, expressed a strong commitment to bolstering virology-related research in Pakistan.

During the closing ceremony, the foreign delegates complimented the symposium's organising and described the Pakistani people's hospitality, affection, and sincerity as wonderful.

Prof. Iqbal Choudhary and other distinguished international scientists awarded certificates to the attendees after the conference.
