6th International Diabetes Conference to be held in Karachi

KARACHI: Sanofi Pakistan and the Diabetic Association of Pakistan (DAP) have collaborated for the sixth consecutive year to bring renowned international diabetes experts to address the “6th International Diabetes Conference”. The conference is organized every year to share the opinions, insights, perspectives, and the best practices of diabetes experts with healthcare professionals from across Pakistan with the objective of improving the outcomes of diabetes management.

Diabetes is increasing in Pakistan at an alarming rate. According to the 2nd National Diabetes Survey of Pakistan (NDSP), 2016–2017, diabetes has reached an epidemic proportion and that there is an urgent needed to develop and implement national strategies for its early diagnosis and effective management. It further suggested the need for a cost-effective diabetes primary prevention program in Pakistan.

“It is alarming that every fourth person in Pakistan has diabetes. Sanofi is committed to improving diabetes management not only through its offering of insulins and oral medicines but also through medical, educational events, scientific workshops, and conferences, such as this one", said Asim Jamal, General Manager and Managing Director of Sanofi Pakistan.

The 6th International Diabetes Conference will be held in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, respectively.
