CHK To Conduct Mortality And Morbidity Meetings

KARACHI- Dr. Ruth KM Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi’s (CHK) administration has directed its heads of departments to send data of deaths reported in the emergency and other wards, to know the actual causes of mortalities.

Addition Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr. Arif Niaz, stated that heads of all departments have been directed to forward a compiled data of deaths reported within the health facility during treatment. He added that some departments are not maintaining proper data.

He informed that Mortality and Morbidity (M&M) meetings are not being held in the hospital to review the occurring deaths.

Dr. Arif Niaz added that, M and M meetings are being held on regular basis in private health facilities alongside some government hospitals. He said that CHK management has also decided to organize these Mortality and Morbidly meetings in Sindh’s largest tertiary care hospital to assess whether patients are dying as a consequence of unsafe clinical practices or natural death.
