Surge in Poliovirus cases: Health authority wakes up from slumber

RAWALPINDI: The district health authority recently announced to soon launch a campaign to administer polio vaccine injections to children in the area where first vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDPV) case has been reported.

So far six VDPV cases have been reported from different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab.

Deputy Commissioner Retired Capt Anwarul Haq took serious notice of the issue and asked the district health authority to check whether or not the vaccinators had done their job diligently.

He also asked the health authority to launch a campaign in the area as soon as possible and give him a compliance report.
