Karachi: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Accident, Emergency and Trauma Centre built at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) at an estimated cost of Rs5 billion will be inaugurated today (Wednesday).
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is expected to be chief guest at the centre’s inaugural ceremony, while Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and other senior officials of provincial health department will be present on the occasion.
The foundation stone of the centre was laid by former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani on Jan 10, 2009 and it was scheduled to be completed in 2012.
This centre having state-of-the-art facilities will provide treatment to trauma patients under one roof.
The trauma centre will accommodate as many as 500 patients when it will be become fully operational.
The centre would have burns, eye, heart, neurosurgery and heart wards, besides operation theatres, mortuary, medical stores, cafeteria, mosque and other facilities.
