Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is organizing a Health Awareness Walk on Hepatitis A & B on Sunday 27th April 2014 at 08:00am from Karachi Press Club to PMA House, Sir Aga Khan III Road, Karachi.
This walk is meant to create awareness regarding Hepatitis A & B, which are very common diseases amongst the masses. Both types of Hepatitis are preventable by vaccination, or avoiding the causes which are responsible for Hepatitis A&B infection.
Hepatitis - A is caused by contaminated water & / or unhygienic food.
Hepatitis- B is caused by infected Blood Transfusion, unsafe Sex, sharing Needles, Tools, Toothbrush, Razor, Dental instrument or other personal item, Babies can also have Hepatitis B from an infected mother or even by Breast Feeding. Getting Tattoo marks and Ear, Nose piercing are also a cause.
PMA believes that getting vaccinated against Hepatitis A&B can drastically reduce the occurrence of the disease.
All Doctors, Nurses, Paramedical staff, Medical students, Members of the Civil Societies, NGO’s and health-conscious citizens are requested to participate in this Health Walk.
