Second polio case surfaces in Kohat this year 

ISLAMABAD: A two-and-a-half-year-old child from the Kohat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was found positive for Type I poliovirus, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). has been diagnosed with.
The child, hailing from Dara Adamkhel, is Kohat's second poliovirus carrier this year. Earlier, in October, a child in the district was diagnosed with the virus. 
Additionally, four sewage samples from Kohat have tested positive for poliovirus, indicating its continued presence in the region.
In total, Pakistan has recorded 40 polio cases in 2024. Of these, two new cases were recently reported on October 19 in the Sanghar and Mirpurkhas districts of Sindh.
