PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, paid tribute to anti-polio workers and pledged to eradicate the polio virus from the province at all costs.
Speaking at an event in observance of World Anti-Polio Day, the Chief Minister honored those involved in anti-polio efforts, especially amid challenging circumstances. He described the work of anti-polio teams and law enforcement as a form of jihad, acknowledging their unmatched sacrifices in this critical fight.
"We are committed to eliminating this curse from society," he stated, urging the public to never boycott anti-polio drives, as doing so jeopardizes the future of our children.
The Chief Minister emphasized that providing basic facilities to the people is the government’s responsibility, and efforts are underway to extend these services to neglected areas. He announced that upcoming campaigns will focus on regions where anti-polio drives had previously been hindered.
Additionally, he urged parents to vaccinate their children against polio to protect them from future disabilities. He also commended Ulema, civil society, and stakeholders for their vital role in combating the spread of the polio virus.
