ISLAMABAD: On a plea filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the formation of a medical board for examination of the party founder and former premier Imran Khan.
Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb, hearing the PTI petition, acknowledged that 72-year-old Imran Khan, an under-trial prisoner, is entitled to medical care.
The court observed that the security arrangements at Adiala Jail should not impede the health assessment of a Class B prisoner.
The court instructed the executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to constitute a board for the former prime minister's medical examination.
A copy of the court order is to be dispatched to the superintendent of Adiala Jail for immediate implementation.
Imran Khan had requested a medical check-up by his personal physicians.
