KARACHI: Former federal minister and owner of Dr Ziauddin Hospitals Dr Asim Hussain, who is currently under custody on alleged Rs62 billion corruption charges, has been appointed as Pakistan People’s Party’s Karachi chapter president, says to a statement issued here on Tuesday by PPP, Sindh.
According to the statement, the decision to appoint Dr Asim as head of Karachi PPP was taken by the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday.
The announcement referred to Mr Bhutto-Zardari’s decision vis-à-vis the organisational restructuring of the party, saying the party chairman has also appointed Senator Saeed Ghani as general secretary and Sindh Assembly’s deputy speaker Shahla Raza as information secretary of the PPP Karachi.
Terming his appointment as PPP Karachi president `surprising’, Dr Hussain vowed to meet expectations of the party’s workers and leadership, besides bringing positive changes in the city’s political culture.
