KARACHI: The sanitizing walk-through gates installed at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) have not been working for several weeks.
The four smart sanitizing walk-through gates were installed three months ago with the support of philanthropists to contain the spread of the coronavirus on the hospital’s premises. However, due to some fault, three sanitizing gates are not working for the past several weeks.
COVID-19 patients from Karachi and other parts of Sindh have been visiting the hospital daily without any check at the hospital's entrance points. The coronavirus may spread in the premises of Sindh’s largest tertiary care hospital due to the non-functioning sanitizing walk-through gates.
Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr Khadim Hussain Qureshi, informed that the out-of-order sanitizing walk-through gates would be removed in the emergency and other sites.
