KARACHI - Perturbed over unsatisfactory performance of malaria and dengue programmes, Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has asked secretary health to issues explanation letters to the heads of both the programmes.

He gave this directive while presiding over a meeting in his office. Provincial secretary health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo and other senior officials were also present.

The minister was of the view that heads of malaria and dengue programmes - Dr Naheed Jamali and Dr Shakil Malik - failed to create awareness among masses about malaria and dengue.

He instructed medical superintendents of all government hospitals and district health officers to ensure attendance of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in their respective health facilities and districts.

At the outset, the minister warned that he will never tolerate any ghost employees in the provincial health department.

On this occasion, Mr Dahar directed secretary health to help resolve the affairs of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center on priority.
