Sindh Health Minister calls for action against two women doctors amid allegations

KARACHI: Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has officially urged the Federal Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination to take action against two women doctors, Prof. Dr. Iram Bukhari and Dr. Nazish Butt, following a formal complaint from Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool, Executive Director of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

In his letter to the Sindh Health Department, Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool accused the two doctors of obstructing faculty members from Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) in their duties at JPMC and allegedly harassing other medical professionals.

The situation escalated when Jinnah Sindh Medical University itself launched an internal inquiry into the matter and subsequently reported its findings to Sindh's Health Minister. In response, Dr. Azra Pechuho has now written to the Federal Ministry of Health, requesting intervention and action.

The allegations have raised concerns over professional conduct and workplace harmony at one of Karachi's premier medical institutions. Further developments in this case will be closely monitored as the Federal Ministry reviews the matter.

The incident highlights the need for stringent measures to address workplace harassment and ensure smooth collaboration between healthcare institutions like JPMC and JSMU, which are vital to Sindh's healthcare ecosystem.
