Senior police official assaults citizen

KARACHI: A video of Abdullah Sheikh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Karachi, reportedly striking a neighbour went viral on social media.

Allegedly the DIG was assaulted by an unidentified individual in plain clothes who claimed to be the DIG and hit him in the face.

According to the report, he also claimed that Sheikh's guards had misbehaved with his sister and stolen her jewellery. 

He went on to say that Sheikh appeared to be drunk.

It can be seen in the video that the man was trying to capture the entire event. Meanwhile, a man dressed as an officer attempted to grab the complainant's cell phone and assaulted him.

On the other side, according to the police report, the complainant requested that DIG, South be assigned as the investigating officer.

It's worth noting that Abdullah Sheikh had previously been the subject of allegations alleging acts of violence against civilians.
