LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has called for immediate administrative measures to improve services at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), underscoring early completion of the PIC-2 project to ease overcrowding.
During a recent visit to the facility, the chief minister also ordered the appointment of an administrative head for the new unit to protect patients from exploitation and equipping it with the latest medical technology and laboratory facilities.

During her tour, she visited the Air Ambulance Patient Ward, where she met Amjad Ali, a heart patient who had been transferred from Bahawalpur.
The CM interacted with patients and staff, and ordered the doctors to prioritise resolution of their issues.
She personally oversaw the treatment of two elderly patients, expressing dissatisfaction over delays in providing emergency support and ordered security personnel to facilitate patient movement.
After receiving a briefing from the PIC executive director on the hospital's ongoing upgrades, the chief minister called for strict action against corrupt individuals hindering patient care.
